Pakistan demands data on CIA agents


ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Feb. 26 (UPI) -- Pakistani intelligence is demanding the CIA account for all its contractors in the country after the murder arrest of an American, a top official says.

The revelation that Raymond Davis, who killed two men in Lahore Jan. 27, is a CIA contractor has angered Inter-Services Intelligence, an official of the spy agency told The New York Times Friday.

The ISI suspects "scores" more contractors are "working behind our backs," he said.

But he added that Pakistan might move past the incident. "Treat us as allies, not as satellites," he said. "Respect, equality and trust are needed."

Director of the Central Intelligence Leon Panetta phoned ISI chief Ahmed Shuja Pasha Wednesday to discuss the Davis case, Pakistan's Dawn News reported.

ISI sources told Dawn the CIA will provide an accounting of the contractors and the procedures they operate under.

Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, met with Pakistani army chief Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani this week in Oman and also discussed the Davis affair.

Davis, who says he shot in self-defense, appeared in court Friday and is in a Lahore jail.
