Default Pak media says should learn from action in Sukna scandal

Pak media says should learn from action in Sukna scandal

Press Trust of India
Tue Jan 25

The court martial of a serving top Indian Army officer that found him guilty for his role in the Sukna land scandal should serve as an example for Pakistan, where no action has been taken against military officers linked to various corruption scandals, the Pakistani media said on Monday.

Holding up the example of the Indian officer, editorials in several leading newspapers contended that Pakistan could become a real democracy only if certain institutions like the Army are not treated as “sacred cows” and if all organs of the state are held accountable for their actions.

“The example of the court martial that tried (Lt Gen P K Rath) should be applied in Pakistan, not just for the Army, but for the entire executive cadre. No one can be above the law any longer,” said the editorial in The Nation, a conservative daily known for toeing a pro-army line and criticising India.

One such incident out of the rare few .......and India decides to gloat?

I dont see Modi brought to justice for Gujrat? Gobind Ram for Operation Shudi Karan? (1984 rape of Sikh girls, and dont anyone here tell me he is dead or otherwise we would have him.....Indians still class him as a heroic martyr)

The list is endless.

Talking about the army, what about several Indain army guys who have raped and tortured innocent Kashmiris? You tell us to knock on the doors of our top military officials (who you allege are corrupt) yet you are afraid to touch even the meager foot soldiers plundering the Kashmir Valley. Talk of double standards???

Isn't this a Pakistani article? The nation is a Pakistani paper I guess.

We will talk about Modi when you punish a single soldier/officer/civilian for the genocide and rapes in Bangladesh and not reward them by making them PMs and army chiefs.

Anyway, the reality is that India and Pakistan are two totaly different countries with absolutely nothing in common. We should never even make any comparisons in anything.

Erm either I am not seeing right or the Indian Express is playing ''wheres Waldo'' with you V.

I am aware that the Nation, one that rarely gets any publicity whatsoever (and so it retorts to cheap tactics just to generate activity) is a Pakistani newspaper but trust an Indian tabloid to play 'pick and choose' and then gloat over sub standard publications.

So? Indian express is covering the Pakistani media reports on the issue? What is so big about it?

I have seen some papers occasionally cover the reports in Pakistani media on some issues. Seems no big deal to me.

I failed to see any gloating here.
