Fake degree holders—the future makers of Pakistan
Unfortunately we are living in a country that is characterized by crises. These crises are always brewing to welcome us. Some times wheat, food and inflation, and at times constitutional and judicial crises await us. They come like storm with their full swing and hit this nation with full force, leaving long lasting impacts on this poverty-stricken nation.
The recent most crisis, which is on its zenith nowadays, is that of fake degrees of parliamentarians. It could never happen anywhere in the world but in Pakistan every thing is possible. This is the worst dilemma for any educated Pakistani is that one who is the member of the most respected forum of Pakistan, one who is supposed to be the future maker of Pakistan is a fake degree holder and is a cheater, who has not cheated only one's people of one's constituency but cheated the constitution and law of Pakistan as well.
As one can expect as soon as these fake degree holders will be traced by their parties and will face stern action but unfortunately it went other way round as the role of party heads and government authorities is very disappointing on this issue. Nation has witnessed enthusiastic speech of Prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani during the election campaign of fake degree holder Jamshed Dasti. Peoples Party also gave ticket to the fake degree holder Nazeer Jutt. Pakistan Muslim League N, which always pretends to stand by principles, but unfortunately it again proved that politics has nothing to do with morality as PML N gave the party ticket to the fake degree holder Naghma Mushtaq.
The most astonishing statement came from the Chief Minister of Balotchistan Nawab Aslam Raisani that a degree is a degree either valid or invalid. It was a surprising statement for every educated Paksitani. Inside sources tell that party members of PML N are not very much happy with the activism of chaudhry Abid Sher Ali on this issue as they consider their inherent right to rule this nation either they are eligible or not.
Supreme Court of Pakistan has directed HEC to re examine the degrees of all Parliamentarians including PM and ministers and after this government is now planning to legislate to defend all of their fake degree holders. Here the interesting thing will be the stance of different political parties on this, how they are going to react? The confidence and the stance of Pml N is also shaking as most of the fake degree holders are from their party. We will have to wait and watch either Pml N will go through with its stance or their expedition will be prematurely terminated?
Thee need of the time is that party heads should take resignation from all their fake degree holders to set an example and to give this impression that zero tolerance towards such like issues is the solution of problems like this.
Otherwise in country like Pakistan that is being characterized by weak institutions, corruption and nepotism this issue is adding insult to the injury and where people already have no trust on system, and this impression that their future makers are frauds and cheaters will further weaken their trust on this fragile government and system as well.
