Nawaz part of agreement which pardon Musharraf: Dasti disclosed
ISLAMABAD: Member National Assembly of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Jamshed Dasti has disclosed in the Lower House on Friday that Quaid PML-N, Mian Nawaz Sharif was also involved in the agreement to pardon former President Pervez Musharraf.
Participating in the Budget Debate, Jamshed Dasti said that Mian Nawaz Sharif agreed not to punish Pervez Musharraf and urged Quaid PML-N to admit it.
He said that Shaheed Benazir Bhutto had done a deal with Musharraf for democracy, adding President Asif Ali Zardari was innocent but he faced imprisonment for 11 years.
Malik Abrar of PML-N has praised the budget but said that the government has ignored the social and agriculture sector.
Chairperson Standing Committee on Finance and member of PPP, Fauzia Wahab termed the budget for 2010-11 as balanced and people friendly.
Favoring Value Added Taxes (VAT), member PPP said that it would prove a constructive tax.
Engineer Usman Khan termed VAT as a complex issue and urged debate and consultation before taking any decision. Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada urged the government to end double standard, adding it is not the work of courts to run government.
He demanded the abolition of Council of Islami Ideology and Federal Shariat Court.
Dr. Ayub Sheikh of MQM has welcomed the reduction in the ratio of Income Tax for Industrial and Domestic consumers.
Member ANP, Bushra Rehman strongly opposed the construction of Kala Bagh Dam, saying those who are favoring it, in fact, wants to break the country by following incomplete agenda of Pervez Musharraf.
