Re: NO Basant says Punjab govt
No point in manipulating and cherry picking the news pieces to prove that hindooism is the cause behind the ban.
We strongly oppose the ban and urge the govt to take suitable steps such as but not limited to restricting the kite fliers to a designated zone, restricting traffic, both human and vehicular around the areas where kites are being flown, creating awareness among the masses, banning that specific (copper) string that is stronger and more lethal etc etc.
But giving a different direction to the issue by the indian members would not be allowed at any cost.
i would appreciate if they put forth any unbiased source claiming that the religion was the sole reason behind the ban. They probably forgot that Basant have been celebrated by Pakistanis since ever and was not banned until now as the deaths and casualties during the festival didnt increase manifold.
We consider it a desperate measure which dont have a popular vote as amply proved by the poll conducted in Lahore alone and by the reasons given for the ban by the politicians in Provincial Assembly.
The time when the indians decide to look at the issue as a local and national one instead of looking towards it from the eyes of perverts and those who like to give a emotional and religious angle to just everything, there is no fun in discussing the issue as it would just result into educated hindoos bringing up the rhetoric of blood lines and historical links that do not fit in the debate at all.
Thread closed!
Might reopen it when we see the indian members getting out of the obsessions and the injuries to their ego from other threads and when we might actually believe that they would heed to the very lucid commentary over the issue by myself and that they would indulge in some meaningful debate.
