Indian Home Minister’s rhetoric continues against Pakistan on dismantling “terror structure”
NEW DELHI Dec. 31 (APP) Despite Pakistan’s sincere efforts and sacrifices rendered by it to counter terrorism in the country, Indian Home Minister P Chidambaram’s rhetoric continued against Pakistan on dismantling “terror structure.”During a press conference here on Thursday, the Home Minister said India was not convinced of Pakistan’s actions and asked it to dismantle such “terror structure”.
“It is very bad. It should be dismantled,” Home Minister P Chidambaram said when asked about his assessment of Pakistan’s actions.
P Chidambaram also expressed concern over the depressing situation in Lalgarh, the Maoist stronghold in West Bengal.
Maoists have resisted military action by the Indian forces against them in Lalgarh this year.
“I am disappointed over the Lalgarh situation...The situation is pretty depressing...despite adequate number of Central paramilitary forces being sent to them in June 2009, the West Bengal government has not been able to contain the problem,” Chidambaram said.
New Delhi government has dispatched thousands of para-military forces equipped with advanced weapons to the area to flush out Maoists but it failed.
Maoists supported by the tribals in the area have been protesting against the police excesses on villagers.
However, Home Minister said the talks with groups of militants are progressing very well.
“We are now in an advanced stage of talks with a number of militant groups. We have appointed an interlocutor P C Haldar. He is in talks with the militant groups that are in the North Cachar Hills, the Karbi Anglong area, the Bodoland council area and I think the talks are progressing very well,” Home Minister in reply to a question said.
