Default Fake or authentic

Camera trick?

Main Rotor provides lift. The engine turns the rotor against the air-drag and causes the body of the helicopter to turn in the opposite direction to the rotor. In order to control this 'side effect', some kind anti-torque mechanism is used. Most common anti-torque mechanism is a smaller rotor mounted vertically on the tail. The tail rotor pushes against the tail to counter the torque effect generated by the main rotor movement. So some kind of anti-torque mechanism is a MUST otherwise a helicopter goes into a tail spin and crashes.

Its authentic. It is to simulate the flight when the tail gets hit for some reason.

Look at this article:

Quote:
In fact, if a helicopter were to be flying forward fast enough, a vertical tail like that used on an airplane would provide enough force to counteract the torque of the main rotor, without any tail rotor! In fact, this mode of flight is actually one of the emergency procedures recommended when a tail rotor malfunctions. Of course, one of the reasons helicopters were developed in the first place was the desire to hover over one spot with no forward velocity.

I very much doubt, Mian Sahab,

Look at the movement of the tail rotor. If the helicopter is moving forward with such a high speed, the tail rotor should spin backwards not hanging back and forth like a pendulum.

Well, most probably the reason is that the rotor has mechanical parts connected to it in the tail section just like mechanical gears in a car engine which helps it in stopping the rotor. Had that not been the case and the rotor was just a fan then it would not have been able to counter the wind's resistance when it was operating against the wind in the regular flight( when the tail rotor is active).

Here is a simple image which will show that the tail rotor usually has a gear box of its own.

May be you should ask some helicopter pilot about it.

Nice to know that you guys understand the principles of heli's with main and tail rotor but add to that the frequency of the camera which maked every certain timeframe a picture... If that frequency has the same (or multiple times) as the time needed for the tailrotor to make a movement (that looks like it has not changed position) then you probably understand the total pciture. For an engineer it is a pretty simplistic but I can understand that others need some time. :)
