Adnan Sami Khan getting thrown out of India
Mr. Adnan Sami Khan said “many Pakistanis work in the UK, and the Middle East. What’s wrong with me working in India“. he may have received his answer from the Bharati Enforcement Directorate last week. There are news stories that mr. Khan’s properties have been seized. Mr. Khan sings songs for Bollywood, and had moved to Mumbai in pursuit of his career goals.
Radical Hindu Mahasabah parties have repeatedly called for the deportation of Mr. Khan.
Is being Pakistani a crime?
I am being penalised for being a Pakistani.
They all knew I was a Pakistani but kept quiet for eight years.
Now the Indian government is alleging that I have not paid the taxes. It is all rubbish.
I am ready for the long battle in the court of law. The Nation
Here is a story reported by The News. MUMBAI: India’s Enforcement Directorate (ED) has confiscated eight properties and five parking spaces acquired by singer Adnan Sami under the Foreign Exchange Management Act. This means that the same have become government properties.
The ED has also imposed a fine of Indian Rs 2 million on the singer as being a Pakistan national; he was not allowed to acquire properties in India.
Officials said that in 2003, the actor had acquired eight immovable properties along with five parking spaces in Oberoi Sky Garden housing society in Lokhandwala, Andheri for a total consideration of Rs 25.3 million.
“I bought the property for Rs 23 million. Now its value is around Rs 350 million. I brought it with hard earned money and will not let them just take it away,” he maintained.
About the future course of action, he said he had 45 days to file an appeal in the tribunal.
“After that I may go to the court of law against the responsible people,” he said. Sami said he was overwhelmed with the support of fans from Pakistan and across the world who sent him messages of solidarity. The Nation.
It seems that the current crisis was exacerbated by the belligerency between Mr. Khan and his Ex-wife. The Times of India reports “For Pakistani singer-composer Adnan Sami and his estranged wife, UAE citizen Sabah Galadari, the New Year has begun with yet another altercation. The question now is, which of the two orders will take precedence – the Enforcement Directorate order in accordance with FEMA, confiscating the flats bought by Sami in Oberoi Sky Garden, Mumbai, or the Bombay HC order granting interim relief to Sabah.
The latest episode began around noon on Sunday when Sabah, armed with the HC order and accompanied by her advocate Edith Dey, arrived at Oberoi Sky Garden seeking execution of the order dated December 22. The division bench had stayed the single judge’s order against her, allowing Sabah to stay in the 13th and 14th floor duplex at Oberoi Sky Garden. The single judge’s order told Sabah to choose between the 12th floor flat or a flat in another building. Sami, however, did not allow Sabah in.”
It seems Mr. Khan has a few more lessons to learn in Mumbai. He is expecting a lot from the Bharati justice system. Let this be a lesson to all those that sing songs for Bharat.
