Default Research Query

Dear All
Assalam o aleikum
I am a research scholar and working on a PhD thesis from the UK, although I belong originally to Rawalpindi area, Pakistan. My main area of research is the British Indian Army c. 1770s to 1940s; and as part of this I am trying to focus on the raising and establishment of certain regiments (including cavalry, infantry and artillery regiments/units) and during the preliminary process I am also looking at various uniforms, badges, insignias etc, of certain of these regiments and units.
During the course of my research, I have come across many types of badges and insignias but I have encountered 1 (ONE) particular badge dated c 1310 Hijri (approx 1896 AD) which seems to be an artillery badge -- but this defeats me entirely--havent been so far able to make any ID of it.
This badge has some Arabic (Quranic) and other (Urdu? Persian?) writing on it and I would be grateful if someone could help me in deciphering/understanding this. How may I post a photo/attachment of this, please? And who do you suggest might be able to help/guide me? None of the UK professors or experts at the British National Army Museum, Imperial War Museum etc have been able to make it out.
Any help/guidance would be most welcome, thank you.

Default Re: Research Query

First and foremost I must welcome you to the forum.....

Anyway best and easiest way is to take a picture of the badge and load it onto this site. I am sure many of us would like to take a look. For that you need the help of photobucket/image shack (and Ill wait for someone else to explain that to you as I havent really ''ever'' used it)

Anyway if you are anywhere near central London, you can go to Christies auction house, King Street branch or South Ken Branch. They have a dedicated team of military experts who might be able to help you in exchange for a small fee. Alternatively you can email the picture to them and I am sure someone will get back to you.

Another way - (a longer way) Orders and Medals Research Society . And if you are not doing anything on the 25th of september you can go to their Medal Fair held at The British Medical Association, Tavistock Sq, London.

Hope that helped.

(Do you realize that you could be sitting on a gold mine here)
