Pakistan's first mobile testing laboratory raids food stalls

KARACHI (June 04 2010): On the directives of Director General, Pakistan Standard Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) Irfan Nadeem, Pakistan's first mobile laboratory equipped with testing facilities raided at open road-side bazaar in front of Rabia City, Gulistan-e-Johar, Karachi.

PSQCA team collected samples from different stalls especially ghee, oil, bottled water and spices & tested in their lab on the spot. After the test, the team announced report results of different items in front of media personnel and general public.

Media people were informed that now, this practice will continue not only for on the spot check of food items, but also to make people aware about the quality standards. It also announced that the mobile testing laboratory would be rotated in all locations of the city and the other parts of country as well. PSQCA asked people to avail the testing facilities of food items free of cost on the spot. People hailed the working of PSQCA to check food quality through raids in markets and bazaars.-PR

Does this mean they will be performing such checks on street vendors as well? (Damn there goes the 'golay wala' from Bahadurabad)

It means a lots of food places on the street will be closed down...there goes my kulfi and gola danda.

Our kulfi wala still delivers kulfi to our house on his 'thaila' (perks of not being a defence boy/girl...yay!)

But I will sure miss the 'golay' with extra condensed milk and the 'chana chor garam.....gol gapay.....and Hyderi ki chat.Top everything up with Pakola.( Yummy, this thread is making me hungry.)
