Default Mig-35s and F-22s no longer available to Bharat

Mig-35s and F-22s no longer available to Bharat

Globally, defense experts and critics have analyzed the absence of MiG-35 at Aero India 2011. Russia pulled out just a week ahead of the commencement of the event on February 9. The Russian delegations visiting Aero India 2011 in Bangalore have confirmed that though their contender for the MMRCA deal, MiG-35, was the only one from the six contenders to have pulled out from the air show.

According to press reports, America‘s advanced stealth fighter F-22 will also not participate in the final day’s air show in India. F-22 will not come to week long India for Aero India 2011. Lockheed Martin‘s decision is seen tied to the withdrawal of the the Russian Mig from the Air show. There are clear indications that the MMRCA selection committee is leaning towards Non-US and Non-Russian jets. The introduction of European plans into the IAF will diversify the Indian Air Force but will increase the costs of maintenance and support, as Bharat will have to update multiple systems
