The minister said maintence was a priority

The Indian Air Force has lost 28 pilots in 61 aircraft and helicopter accidents in the last four years, parliament was informed on Wednesday.

The figures were provided by Defence Minister AK Antony in a parliamentary written reply.

The minister said that the air force had aircraft of varying ages on their inventory which were thoroughly checked and properly maintained.

"No aircraft is offered for flying unless... it is fully fit," he said.
