Indian govt's policies over Kashmir ‘confused’: Advani
* BJP leader tells MPs to prepare for nationwide protests to stall any kind of deal with Pakistan

NEW DELHI: Veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Parliamentary Party Chairman Lal Krishna Advani continued accusing the Indian government of talking to Pakistan under the United States’ pressure and advised his parliamentarians to be vigilant, as the government's policies appeared 'confused' on the sensitive matter of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).
In his blog on Tuesday, Advani saw India inviting insults from Pakistan by initiating talks. He spoke in Lok Sabha on Wednesday on alleged ‘clandestine’ Kashmir deal under the US pressure that brought an immediate retort from the Indian prime minister, and went on to raise the issue again on Thursday at the BJP Parliamentary Party meeting.
Protests: The PM's reaction of bewilderment in the House only shows that the charge of acting under the US pressure has some truth, Advani told the party lawmakers, stressing that the party would have to prepare for nationwide protests to stall any kind of deal with Pakistan on Kashmir.
Advani had accused Dr Manmohan Singh of ‘altering’ the stand on Kashmir under the pressure of the United States. He said the Indian Punjab government would erect a statue of Dr Mukherjee at Madhopur checkpost in Pathankot on March 20, at the commencement of construction of a bridge across the River Ravi. Mukherjee had entered Kashmir without permit protesting against Article 370 that conferred special status on the border state.
It was because of D Mukherjee's valiant efforts, the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court and Election Commission had been extended to the state of J&K, he said.
