Ahmadinejad calls on Pakistan to arrest and hand over terrorists

TEHRAN – During a telephone President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called on his Pakistani counterpart Asif Ali Zardari to order the country’s security forces to immediately arrest terrorists behind the deadly bombing attacks inside Iran’s border province of Sistan-Baluchestan and hand them over to Iran.

The members of the terrorist Jundullah group use Pakistan’s soil as their safe haven for attacks in Sistan-Baluchestan, a province bordering Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Last Wednesday a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device outside a mosque in the city of Chabahar during a Shia religious ceremony of Ashura, martyring 35 people and injuring more than 100 others. Women and children were among the victims.

In the telephone conversation with Zardari on Monday night, Ahmadinejad said terrorists “not only are not Muslims but have no religion.”

Ahmadinejad also thanked Pakistan for its sympathy with the Iranian government and nation over the Chabahar bombing.

The president said Iran is ready to share intelligence information with Pakistan on tracking down terrorists, adding “Cooperation and firm action by the two countries would undoubtedly root out terrorism in the region.”

Zardari assured Ahmadinejad that Pakistan will spare no efforts in helping to root out terrorism.

He also called on Ahmadinejad to send his condolences to the Supreme Leader, the Iranian nation and the bereaved families over the terrorist attack in Chabahar
