China’s 4th gen J-10 fighter redesigned, upgraded by Pakistan as FC-20

April 13, 2010

Some versions of the redesigned J-10s will take off in 2009, however the official flight date for the Pakistani FC-20s is 2015, but in actuality the Pakistanis are way ahead on the schedule and working beyond the J-10 redesigns. The PAF is looking beyond the JF-17 thunders and the J-10s. The design for the next generation of Pakistani aircraft has already begun. The Chinese J-10s are ready for export now. The redesign and upgrade of the FC-20s will take about five more years.

BEIJING, April 13 (APP): China Tuesday put on display its most modern 4th generation state of the art fighter aircraft. The unveiling ceremony of the J-10 single seat aircraft was held in the port city of Tianjin about 130- KM away from Beijing in which air attaches from over fifty countries and a large number of international media participated.A formation of four aircraft in groups and individually demonstrated stellar performances of maneuvering and acrobat with great skill that last over twenty minutes at the base of 24th Air division of People’s Liberation Army IPLA).

Later, a briefing for the air attaches and media was held in which Senior Colonel Yan Feng,of PAL Air Force said that the 24th Air Division was established on September 20,1951 and started undertaking operation in 1952 with four objectives,Missions; Organizations and Equipment; Operation and Training and Friendly exchanges.

The spokesman of Ministry of National Defense Mr. Huang Xueping responding to questions from air attaches’ and media said that China has military to military relationship with 150 countries, there are 102 attaches of various countries in Beijing, while his country has 100 attaches abroad. China has sent 130 high level delegations to different countries.

Huang said that under the banner of United Nations his country has 18 different missions performing abroad with 15000 Chinese servicemen.
Jointly Redesigned and upgraded Chinese J-10Bs built in Pakistan as FC-20s to be operationalized before 2015

The Defense Ministry spokesman further said that since 2008, we have introduced a system of information for general public and also launched our website.

On cost of the aircraft, he responded that the price tag of this aircraft is around 190 million Yuan.

He said that we plan to exhibit this aircraft in aviation shows abroad next year, as in 2010 we have very busy schedule within the country.
Most of the participates while eulogizing the performance of the fighter jet and skillful performance by the Chinese pilots said that the plane is as good as manufactured in other modern countries of the world.

The aircraft avionics, strength of the body structure, maneuvering, speed, and load lifting is second to none.

Salman Bokhari, Air Attaches who represented Pakistan while responding to questions from international media said that the show helps to know in better way the performance of this 4th generation fighter aircraft.

The Pakistan Air Force has unveiled plans to purchase, build and fly more than 150 J-10 planes, one the finest flying birds in the Chinese inventory. This acquisition (which includes shared development, improvement in design, and local manufacturing in Pakistan) will add unprecedented fire power to the PAF which is continuing to build, and export the JF-17 Thunders. Islamabad plans to build more than 500 JF-17 Thunders and keep at least 250 of these for its own use.

In a major move to boost its air warfare capability, Pakistan is to purchase 36 J-10 fighter aircraft from China in a deal worth more than USD 1.4 billion, with options open for induction of more similar aircraft.

China will supply the 36 J-10 fighter jets, enough to equip two squadrons, under a preliminary agreement that could lead to “more sales”, a Pakistani official has said. Pakistan might buy “larger numbers” of the multi-role aircraft in the future but has not signed any deal to purchase as many as 150 jets, the official told the Financial Times.

The J-10 or Jian 10 is China’s most advanced combat aircraft … Islamabad and Beijing are also collaborating to build an advanced fighter — JF-17 or “Thunder” and the first of these aircraft are expected to roll out by the end of this month, air force chief Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman said recently.
