Army fully capable to defeat conventional and un-conventional threats: Kayani

ISLAMABAD (June 08, 2010): Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani on Tuesday said that Pakistan Army is well equipped, highly motivated and fully capable to defeat conventional and un-conventional threats posed to the country.

Addressing officers of Command and Staff College, Quetta he said it is harmonization of socio - political, administrative and military strategies that will usher an environment of peace and stability in the long term. "Ultimately it is the will of the people and their support that is decisive. It is critical that Pakistan Army's efforts are backed by the nation."

Urging the officers to maintain their focus on professional pursuits, the Chief of Army Staff emphasized that leadership would remain the decisive factor in outcome of any military campaign and officers must lead by personal example.

The COAS informed the audience that efforts were being made to equip the Army with modern and best possible hardware, within the given resources.

Earlier, on arrival, the Chief of Army Staff was received by Lieutenant General Javed Zia, Commander Southern Command and Major General Khalid Rabbani, Commandant Command and Staff College.

I hope it is.
I last read that the PA was overstretched and couldn't open another front.
We still see quite some signs of militant/taliban activity. They are far from defeated.

If the General says that we're fully capable, I guess we should keep him to his word. Perhaps a PR move? Or to simply assure the Pakistani people/world while he's actually not so sure at all?

I don't know, but I did learn to fully support our troops 100% and have patience. It's a very big mess, but i've always been certain that if we get out of this Inshallah, we'll be so much stronger and wiser as people and as a nation. (That is, if we don't get another moron as our leader).
