Sending products to Britain: PHSADC to facilitate small arms manufacturers
PESHAWAR (November 26 2009): Pakistan Hunting and Sporting Arms Development Company (PHSADC) would facilitate small arms manufacturers in sending their products to Britain for proofing and certification purposes. This was stated by Chairman, PHSADC, Nauman Wazir while presiding over a meting of the small arms manufacturers here at Small Industries Development Board (SIDB) here the other day.
Beside, senior officials of the company arms manufacturers and dealers from both settled and tribal areas of the province attended. Chief Operating Officer (COO) Mohammad Tariq was also present.
The standard facilities of arms proofing is available in few countries of the world. However, the company, he said would carry out the certification of the products from Britain. The company, he said would carry the proof of the arms products from Birmingham and London. The meeting reviewed problems of arms manufacturers of both settled and tribal areas and given proposals and recommendations for the remedy.
Speaking in the meeting, the chairman, PHSADC said the workers of the industry would be given training, saying syllabus in this regard would be prepared in consultation with the stakeholders of the sector.
He said that in this regard, he is also in touch with TEVTA Punjab for arranging a training of at least one-week for the workers of the sector. For the facilities of CNC (Computer-Numerical-Copying), Nauman Wazir invited arms manufacturers to use the services of the facility established in the small industrial estate in Peshawar. In this connection, he also hinted at the signing of memorandum of understandings (MoU) with different institutions of Punjab. However, he said imparting of training through machinery would be more useful for strengthening the technical skill of the workers.
In response to the demands of arms manufacturers, he said the company will also facilitate the sector in the purchase of machinery and procedure of the opening of Letter of Credit (LCs) for the purpose of export. "W are all out there to support the sector without concern of morning and evening," assured Nauman Wazir.
He told the arms manufacturers that a team of experts from Gujranwala would soon visit the city and after carrying review of the sector, they would prepare syllabus for the proposed training. He assured that Common Facilitation and Training Centre (CFTC) machines would be provided to the whole sector while some machinery would be purchased from Wah Ordnance Factory. Regarding CNC machines, he directed the officials of the company to gather information and giving of proper presentation to him.
