Arrow PAF fallen Hero Sq Ldr Shabbir,

Dear All i am sharing the following with you. Recieved from some senior retired officer.

The two part link below is about a Pakistani pilot who died when his plane crashed near Indian base of Jamnagar in 1965 war. He left behind twenty one year widow Shahnaz Haider. Forty four years later, with the help of Indian Air Force (IAF), it was possible for her to close a painful chapter of her life. It was indeed a laudable gesture on part of IAF. Two images got my attention. One is when Shahnaz puts her hand on Flight Lieutenant Manish Sangwan’s head. Squadron Leader Shabbir was probably of Manish’s age when he died. Second is when Air Commodore ® Najib Khan (Shabbir’s squadron ‘buddy’ and close friend) hugs Flight Lieutenant Manish Sangwan.. Shabbir who was born in Lucknow had promised Shahnaz that when he retires and able to travel to India, he will take her to Taj Mahal in Agra. Shahnaz finally came to Taj Mahal but alone and after visiting the crash site of Shabbir.

Kudos to Air Chief Marshal ® S. P. Tyagi, Jamnagar Base Commander Davinder Singh and Flight Lieutenant Manish Sangwan for their efforts to find Shabbir’s final destination.
