EDB starts work on establishing auto clusters

ISLAMABAD, May 2 – Engineering Development Board (EDB) has initiated work to establish two auto clusters at Sheikhupura and Karachi under Auto Industry Development Plan (AIDP), spokesman of the Board said here on Friday.

A sub-committee on Auto Cluster Development (ACD) has been formed to overview the progress on the projects, he added.

The stakeholders, however, have proposed to raise the number of these clusters and suggested to extend them to Lahore, Hub, Dera Ghazi Khan, Gujranwala and Sialkot, he added.

The first auto cluster would be established in Karachi while the second cluster will be established at Sheikhupura, close to the motorway, he added.
